A chance for full-fledged movement: A water rehabilitation center was built in the City of Good with the support of Citi Ukraine

At the beginning of October, in Chernivtsi, on the territory of the charitable center “City of Good”, the aqua-rehabilitation center “Mriya” was opened. This is a comprehensive space for physical, sensory and psycho-emotional rehabilitation of seriously ill children and children with disabilities. Citi Ukraine fully financed the construction of an aqua rehabilitation center. The bank provided a grant of 950 thousand dollars. This project was implemented in partnership with the Peli can live charitable foundation.

“For Citi Ukraine, it is not just financial assistance that is valuable – it is an investment in dignity, quality of life, and faith in children’s strength. Children undergoing palliative care need modern conditions for recovery. By providing this grant, we strive to ensure that children have access to advanced rehabilitation methods. We are proud to be able to support such a vital project,” said Alexander McWhorter, Citi Country Officer for Ukraine.

All solutions in the center are provided taking into account the needs of children with various mobility disorders. The center was created for children with disorders of the musculoskeletal system, serious and incurable diseases, in particular, evacuees from frontline territories and children deprived of parental care. Here they will be able to receive comprehensive assistance in accordance with their needs. The depth of the pool is from 60 centimeters to 1.2 meters, and obliquely provides a gradual transition.

“Hundreds of children live in the “City of Good”, and this is the only palliative charity center in our country, where there are children with incurable diagnoses, children who need rehabilitation every day. Therefore, this aqua-rehabilitation center “Mriya” was really our dream. This is not a whim, but an important element in the restoration and healing of a child. We are happy that we are opening a whole aqua-rehabilitation complex. Speech therapists, physiotherapists, music specialists, and sensory rooms will work here. All this together should work for the development and healing of the child,” says Marta Levchenko, the founder of the Charitable Foundation “City of Good”.

The Peli can live charitable foundation has been supporting the City of Good since 2017 as a project partner, helping in its development and supporting mothers and children.

“We wanted to add some color and happiness to the lives of children who are taken care of by the City of Good, so we decided to support the idea of creating an aqua-rehabilitation center “Mriya”. With this idea, we turned to CitiUkraine, with which we will work for several years in a row in the project “Home Again” – the construction and purchase of housing in rural areas for people who lost their homes as a result of the war. For us, “Mriya” is the result of many years of cooperation with the “City of Good”,” said Yana Bobrova, Chairman of the Board, co-founder of Peli can live.

The aqua center is fully equipped for children who cannot sit or move independently, which is why the pool was equipped with a specialramp and equipment was provided with which you can safely lower the child into the water. The pool also has a rehabilitation bed that drives into the water, andhydromassage equipment. This will allow specialists to conduct classes with children, who have significant musculoskeletal disorders.

Hydrorehabilitation facilities will be provided free of charge for medical reasons. They will be able to be used not only by children who permanently reside in the “City of Good” or are undergoing inpatient treatment, but also by those who will come to outpatient classes and are not able to receive similar assistance in other institutions. Internally displaced persons, women and children who have suffered from domestic violence, as well as families who find themselves in difficult life circumstances, will be able to use the services of the center.
