Citi Ukraine continues to support the Light for Hospitals program and specialized facial reconstruction together with the Yellowblue Force Foundation
Citi Ukraine remains committed to the mission of implementing humanitarian projects in Ukraine. This fall, the third humanitarian project of Citi Ukraine and the Foundation began since the start of the full-scale invasion. The Bank provided a grant of $370 thousand for the installation of solar panels for hospitals in Tulchyn, Chernivtsi, Kamiansk. This assistance also provides for the purchase of implants for facial reconstruction for patients affected by hostilities.
Alternative energy sources will allow hospitals to operate uninterruptedly during critical loads on the power grid. In addition to ensuring energy independence, such a system will allow medical facilities to save money and redirect it to
own urgent needs."Our steadfast partnership with the Yellowblue Force Foundation, providing regional hospitals with vital solar panels for a stable energy supply, is central to Citi Ukraine's commitment to the nation's resilience. This marks our third time supporting the 'Light for Hospitals' program, directly enabling the medical sector to deliver uninterrupted care even during extended power outages. We firmly believe this critical equipment will offer long-term benefits to these hospitals, while the facial reconstruction implants will play a crucial role in accelerating patients' recovery," said Alexander McWhorter, Citi Country Officer in Ukraine.
"The partnership with Citi Ukraine allows us to influence the lives of people and communities at several levels at once. Solar stations with batteries guarantee the operation of hospitals during blackouts, and medical programs for the treatment of complex trauma and facial reconstruction restore victims the opportunity to live without pain and stigma. This is a massive joint effort - and we do not plan to stop. Even more help ahead for those who need it most," says Borys Danevych, director of the Yellowblue Force Foundation. The hospitals participating in the program are important to their regional communities. The Tulchyn Central District Hospital (Vinnytsia region) provides comprehensive assistance to more than 60 thousand residents of the city and nearby communities. Solar panels with batteries boasting a capacity of 80 kW will be installed here.
The hospital in the Kamianske territorial community provides a wide range of medical care, including laboratory diagnostics and ultrasound examination, to more than 20 thousand citizens. Panels and batteries with a capacity of 50 kW will
be installed here. The Central City Clinical Hospital in Chernivtsi is a cluster, multidisciplinary institution in Bukovyna that provides medical care in various fields. The installation of panels and 40 kW batteries will take place here.
The medical direction of cooperation will cover the needs of 52 patients who require head or face reconstruction surgery. Thanks to this program, 672 patients from all over the country have already been operated on since the beginning of 2024.
We remind you that during 2023-2025, in partnership with Citi Ukraine and the Yellowblue Force Foundation, solar panels have already been installed in hospitals in the following cities: Chortkiv, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Fastiv and Sambir.
Since February 2022, Citi and the Citi Foundation have donated more than $8.5 million to support humanitarian initiatives, including reopening schools, providing legal and psychological advice to women, and helping Ukrainian refugees find safe haven in other countries.
