Citi Ukraine and the Peli can live Foundation have completed the construction of houses for IDPs in the Kyiv region
The project is being implemented in partnership with the Peli can live charitable foundation with the financial support of Citi Ukraine in the amount of 250 thousand US dollars. In October 2025, the "Home Again" project was successfully completed. This initiative aimed to provide housing for eleven families who lost their homes as a result of Russian aggression. Eleven fully equipped modular houses in the Boryspil district were transferred to the ownership of the project participants.
The families are originally from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson regions. 47 people, including 16 children, are now rebuilding their lives in the Studenykivka, Vovchkiv and Yagotyn communities.
The grant from Citi Ukraine amounted to $500 thousand, and the project was implemented by the Peli can live foundation, an organization with prior experience in modular housing construction. "Home Again is a significant project for Citi. Continuing to help address humanitarian challenges remains a key priority for us. This initiative is not only about building housing; it’s about creating a home and a sense of security. We believe that providing new housing is an essential step for the reconstruction of Ukraine," said Alexander McWhorter, CCO for Citi in Ukraine
This is not the first cooperation between Citi Ukraine and the Foundation. In 2023, a grant from Citi Ukraine, made it possible to restore housing for ten families in the Chernihiv region. 10 modular homes were built for 30 people who lost their homes due to hostilities in 9 settlements in the Ivaniv, Kyiv, Ichnyansky and Novobilousk amalgamated territorial communities of the Chernihiv region.
"This year's project was an ambitious challenge for us. The unique feature of Home Again II is that Peli can live assisted project participants in obtaining land ownership and developing infrastructure. The grant from Citi Ukraine fully covered the manufacture and decoration of the houses, which greatly simplified the process of arranging new housing for participants. We wanted to include as many families as possible in the project, so we decided to seek additional funding for infrastructure solutions, keeping them separate from the main project. The housing funding from Citi Ukraine became an anchor for attracting other organizations to develop infrastructure facilities around homes. We are very grateful to the Studenykivka аmalgamated hromada, where 9 found shelter for their active help and cooperation. We are also grateful to the organizations and private donors who joined the #InfrastructureForLife project to help speed up the relocation of families," said Yana Bobrova, Executive Director of the Peli can live Foundation.
Since February 2022, Citi and the Citi Foundation have donated more than $6.5 million to support humanitarian initiatives, including reopening schools, providing legal and psychological advice to women, and helping Ukrainian refugees find safe havens in other countries.
