Citi Ukraine and the City of Goodness charity center have started the construction of an aquarehabilitation center for children with disabilities

The project is being implemented in partnership with the Peli can live charitable foundation with the financial support of Citi Ukraine in the amount of 250 thousand US dollars.

The Mriya (“Dream”) Children's Aqua Rehabilitation Center in the City of Goodness charity center will become an important part of the complex of medical services for rehabilitation. Every year, "City of Goodness" provides shelter and outpatient rehabilitation for more than 400 children.

The center will provide the possibility of water therapy combined with canitherapy, physiotherapy and massage rooms, as well as a neuropsychologist's work area, including support for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Alexander McWhorter, CCO for Citi Ukraine, says: "Citi Ukraine continues to support the humanitarian sphere of Ukraine. At Citi, we believe that all children should have access to health care. By supporting the construction of the aqua rehabilitation center, we are investing not only in the building, but above all in their health and future."

Marta Levchenko, founder of the City of Goodness, adds: "Every child is a universe of opportunities. And the children who are now receiving help in the "City of Goodness" were once traumatized by the war, have serious illnesses, faced non-childish trials and have never had the experience of high-quality, comprehensive rehabilitation. Together with Citi Ukraine and Peli can live, we create an environment where every child can feel that they have the right to health, an active life and deserve the best. We are grateful to Citi Ukraine and the Peli can live foundation for believing in this idea."

Yana Bobrova, co-founder and executive director of "Peli can live," said: "The construction of the aqua rehabilitation center is the embodiment of our common dream of providing a full cycle of rehabilitation support for children of the City of Goodness, a significant part of whom have disabilities. The aqua rehabilitation center will provide new therapeutic opportunities".

Denys Koliubakyn, medical director of the medical center "City of Goodness", : "Hydrorehabilitation will have a positive effect on muscle strengthening without excessive stress on the joints, will help improve mobility and psycho-emotional support of children. Especially valuable is the approach to creating individual rehabilitation programs, taking into account the physical and psycho-emotional needs of the child. Such a center will become not only a place of treatment, but also a space for development, socialization and regaining faith in one's own capabilities."

Since February 2022, Citi and the Citi Foundation have donated more than $6.5 million to support humanitarian initiatives, including reopening schools, providing legal and psychological advice to women, and helping Ukrainian refugees find safe havens in other countries.
