China Market Outlook: What Treasurers Need to Know for 2017

As China continues to develop its markets, slowly linking them to the international financial system, its currency reforms have significant impact for corporate treasurers.

Recently, China’s central bank - the People’s Bank of China - has made some moves to ease capital flows, providing liquidity to the offshore RMB market. This signals opportunities for currency conversion, cross-border payments and remittance - enabling companies to continue to integrate the RMB with global treasury practices.

Join Citi’s experts as we explore the near-term prospects of the Chinese economy in relation to growth, debt and liquidity. Combining macroeconomic, regulatory and liquidity management perspectives, participants will benefit from a comprehensive overview on what treasurers need to know to capture opportunities and mitigate risk when managing China.

Topics covered include:

  • China’s capital controls under the 2017 macroeconomic context
  • Key measures and when to expect regulatory easing
  • RMB exchange rate outlook (near- and long-term)
  • China’s regulatory change: What’s new for Corporates
  • FX risk and liability cost saving ideas for Corporates in the current environment

Same Day ACH Ruling - Impact on Treasury Operations Organizations

Citi will explore how the Phase II (Same Day Debits) implementation of the Same Day ACH Ruling may impact Treasury Operations Organizations and how you may be prepared to meet a new set of challenges of both originating and receiving Same Day debits.

As the global trend towards faster settlement times for electronic payment methods continues, demand is largely attributed to faster bill presentment and payment, online and mobile transactions, direct consumer sales, etc. In 2015, NACHA, the governing body of the ACH network in the United States, passed a ballot allowing for same day settlement of ACH payments. Feature functionality and product capability is to be rolled out over a mandated three-phase implementation that began September 23, 2016. US Originating Depository Financial Institutions may voluntarily originate Same Day, while receipt and ensuring funds availability is mandatory for all Receiving Depository Financial Institutions.

These sessions will progressively cover the faster payments trend; review the Same-Day ACH NACHA Rules; the benefits and implications of same day ACH and implications to clients; and provide updates on changes Citi will make to support the Rules.

Optimizing Trade Finance Strategy with Dynamic Discounting

Specific trade finance solutions including Supply Chain Finance, Procurement Cards, and Dynamic Discounting all create unique efficiencies for organizations seeking to modernize their trade finance programs, including working capital improvements, P2P process capabilities, and margin improvement. However, a single trade finance option may not be the best strategy.

To succeed, you must think strategy over individual solution, prioritizing your objectives for payment terms, supply chain health, and return on investment. Once you have a strategy, then you can identify the right “working capital mix” of trade finance that supports your goals and the full spectrum of your supply chain.

In this webinar, Citi and Dynamic Discounting partner, C2FO, will explore how to align your trade finance objectives and establish an ecosystem that drives growth and increases profitability for your organization.

Key learnings will include:

  • Achieving and sustaining financial returns from operations
  • Improving supply chain health across all tiers of suppliers
  • Generating new income opportunities
  • Increasing margins without increasing costs or changing process
  • Developing a holistic trade finance strategy that works for your entire supply chain
