Citi and Maxim Health Systems Team Up to Provide Innovative Flu Care Payment Solutions

New York, NY - June 19, 2012 – Maxim Health Systems (MHS) is now a certified distributor of the Citi Flu CareSM card, an innovative health care payment solution. The Citi Flu Care card can be used in convenient locations for flu vaccinations at more than 25,000 pharmacies and clinics nationwide. The card provides organizations with a cost-effective method for delivering vaccination services to their health care beneficiaries.

"We are pleased with our collaboration with Maxim Health Systems this past flu season to distribute a payment solution that provides cost savings for companies and offers a convenient low cost alternative for employees, and other adult beneficiaries," said John Kohari, Citi’s Global Head for Prepaid Cards. "The flexibility of this new solution is a way to drive efficiency in areas where traditional health care and retail health services meet."

MHS, a division of Maxim Health care Services, provides quality health care services in 44 states. MHS’s vaccine program administered more than 12 million immunizations over the last five years. Maxim’s national customer base needed an enhanced solution to provide convenient access to employees and members of the corporations and health plans it serves. After partnering with Citi, Maxim’s clients were able to make flu shots available to all individuals in every market they serve with zero out-of-pocket expense.

"Our relationship with Citi helped offer our clients a health care benefit that is effective, flexible and economical," said Steve Pellito, Director of Wellness for Maxim Health Systems. "We now have an enhanced solution to provide flu shots for 100 percent of the population we serve, including people who live and work in remote locations."

Based on industry research, the Citi Flu Care card is the first flu shot payment product that does not require prefunding. In addition, Citi uses patent-pending technology to ensure that only flu vaccinations can be purchased. This breakthrough capability both eliminates the need for prepayment and gives employers greater funding control and overall health care cost reduction.
