Citi became one of the first global banks to establish a presence in Kazakhstan. A representative office was opened in Almaty in April 1994, followed by obtaining a full commercial banking license in 1998, when Citibank Kazakhstan JSC (Citi) expanded its services to corporate clients.
Today, Citi is one of the leaders in the Kazakhstan’s banking industry. Citi acts as a key partner for international companies and investors, the government of Kazakhstan and the largest enterprises in the country and consistently holds leading positions in terms of the volume of payments by corporate clients and trading on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange.
The Bank has been operating in Kazakhstan for 31 years, offering a wide product and service spectrum to its customers.
In 2024 and 2025, Citi was recognized as the Best International Bank in Kazakhstan by Euromoney within the Euromoney Awards for Excellence framework.
In 2023, Asiamoney recognized Citi as the Best International Bank in Kazakhstan for five consecutive years (2019–2023) within its annual Best Bank Awards. Additionally, Citi was honored as the Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Kazakhstan.
