April 21, 2016

Hungary. Budapest. Two talented university students received the 2015 Andras Felkai Academic Award in an award ceremony in Budapest on March 24, 2016. The awards were handed over by Citi Hungary’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kevin A. Murray and Mrs. Pal Felkai, mother of late Andras Felkai.

Ágnes Nemes and Szidónia Zentai, who both hold a Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting from the Corvinus University of Budapest, used the funds to sponsor their Master’s in International Management studies at universities abroad. Since its foundation in 2002 and including this year’s awardees, the Andras Felkai Academic Award went to 36 young professionals in support of their professional development and study trips.

Kevin A. Murray, CEO for Hungary said, “Supporting studies and career development of young talents is a coherent part of our community programs at Citi. Through this program we are contributing to enhancing the talent pool in Hungary with open-minded, highly qualified professionals featuring leadership skills, a positive attitude and international outlook.”

Szidónia Zentai, one of the 2015 annual program awardees said at the award ceremony, “I am honored to have received the Andras Felkai Academic Award, funds of which I have used to complete the exchange semester of my master’s program in International Management at the Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. I am very appreciative about this opportunity that provided me with a life changing experience and I am certain that all I have learnt in Japan will significantly add to my future career prospects.”

The Andras Felkai Academic Award Fund was established in 2002 as a tribute to Andras Felkai, a highly trained professional and a prominent and respected member of the Hungarian financial sector, who passed away in a tragic accident. Citi Hungary, the family of Andras Felkai, several financial institutions and individual donors have also contributed to the fund, which is currently managed by the Andras Felkai Foundation.

The cash awards, which are paid from the annual funds collected by the foundation for this purpose, support the studies of talented students and young professionals selected by the Judging Committee from the applicants based on set evaluation criteria.
