LONDON/MOSCOW – Citi has announced the appointment of Marc Luet as Cluster Head of Central and Eastern Europe and President of ZAO Citibank based in Moscow. This appointment of Marc as CEE Cluster Head is effective immediately and his candidacy as the bank’s President is subject to regulatory approval. Marc Luet replaces Zdenek Turek, who has been serving in his new role of Citi Cluster Head for Western Europe since May and is based in London. Marc Luet recently served as Head of Citi Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Consumer business. More recently, Marc has also been serving as the Interim Head of Global Consumer Marketing & Internet Office.

“The CEE Region, including Russia, is a priority market for the Citi franchise. We are confident that Marc’s leadership and seasoned business management experience will add tremendous value to our businesses”, said Jim Cowles, Citi’s Chief Executive Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Marc was in charge of the successful repositioning of Citi’s Consumer business in EMEA for sustainability and future growth. Since becoming Head of the EMEA Consumer business in June 2010, Marc has managed to transform the business by modernizing and digitizing its operations as well as refocusing resources on the opportunities with a greater potential.

Marc has over 20 years of experience in the financial sector. He was previously at Visa, where he served as President for CEMEA, an area covering 80 geographies, from 2008 to 2010. Prior to Visa, Marc was CEO of Consumer Finance and Retail International for Fortis group and CEO of Egg France. Prior to 2002, he spent 12 years at Citigroup, where he held several Marketing, Risk and Operations positions in Europe and North America, before becoming the Consumer Business Manager in Hungary and then Belgium.

Marc has a BSc in Economics from the Panthéon Sorbonne University, is a graduate of Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, and holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.

“I have many people to thank for their support and trust during my work at Citi Russia and CEE: our clients, partners, government regulators and of course our team for their professionalism, dedication and hard work. Over the last 5 years, we have very successfully grown our franchise in all material parameters and are positioned well for future opportunities across our markets. I have no doubt that Marc will continue to make a towering contribution to the bank’s success and wish him every success in this new role,” Zdenek Turek said.

“Russia is one of Citi’s largest organically grown businesses anywhere in the world and is well supported by a world-class product set and a customer friendly platform. I’m honored to work with the very strong team we have on the ground to continue our momentum and deliver the full power of our universal banking model to clients in the region,” said Marc Luet.
