Whitney Baker is the Founder of Totem Macro, a boutique Global Macro investment firm with a focus on uncorrelated alpha generation across Emerging Markets. Whitney is also the Co-Founding Partner and CIO of Totem Macro Asset Management, an emerging global macro alpha manager backed by several high-profile strategic investors within the public markets, private markets and Global Macro spaces. Whitney leverages a career’s worth of buyside experience managing pools of capital across a range of Global and EM-focused strategies (Discretionary and Systematic Global Macro, Global Long/Short Equity, Long-only Asia, USA & Global Financials). Whitney most recently served as the Head of Emerging Markets at Bridgewater, running, overseeing and developing Bridgewater’s systematic macro strategies in EM. Prior to that she ran discretionary Global Macro, Financial Equity L/S and equity strategies at Soros, TT International and Resolution. Whitney is also non-Executive Chairman of Capitalworks Emerging Market Acquisition Corp (Nasdaq: CMCAU).
Prior to joining O’Connor he was employed at Deutsche Bank where he was Head of Private Credit Origination and Structuring (2007-2015). Prior to Deutsche Bank, Baxter worked at Latham & Watkins as a senior associate in the Finance Department focusing on leveraged finance and project finance (2004-2007). In the years preceding his time at Latham & Watkins, Baxter was an associate at Winston & Strawn in the Project Finance Group (2001-2004). Baxter holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. Board member of Girls Leadership (NY).
Curtis joined Pentwater Capital Management in April 2021 as a Portfolio Manager. Prior to joining Pentwater, he was a Portfolio Manager of Special Situations Equities at Water Island Capital. Previously, Curtis worked in the Economic and Valuation Services group at KPMG providing valuation consulting services to corporate clients. Curtis has 14 years of investment industry experience. Curtis graduated from John Carroll University in 2006 with a B.S. in Economics and a Concentration in Finance and completed his CFA in 2011.
