Treasury Leadership Series - Investment Portfolio Diversification through Cash Segmentation

Corporate cash reserves, especially in Asia, have grown during the past few years and treasurers continue to seek alternative investments to meet both risk diversification and liquidity objectives.

More importantly, treasury and finance departments globally are faced with the dual challenge of finding secure repositories for their cash, while dealing with a lack of internal resourcing to conduct the necessary credit research. Furthermore, as these companies have often reduced their counterparty credit limits due to credit rating downgrades, existing deposit limits are often fully utilized.

In this session, Philippe Jaccard, Citi's Asia Pacific Head of Liquidity and Investments, and representatives from Asset Management houses will discuss the key trends we observe from treasurers, market development across Asia and the main investment products available for both G3 and Asian currencies.

Speakers

  • Philippe Jaccard, Head of Liquidity & Investment, Asia Pacific, Citi
  • Travis Spence, Head of Global Liquidity, Asia, J.P. Morgan
  • Subash Pillai, Head of Cash & Fixed Income, Goldman Sachs Asset Management

Treasury Leadership Series – RMB Cross Border Trade Settlement Scheme

People’s Bank of China (PBOC) introduced the RMB cross border trade settlement scheme in July 2009 to gradually encourage the usage of its currency (RMB) outside China. This is one of first few steps taken by China to create alternative currency for global trade flows.

The overseas deposits and cross border trade flows in RMB have increased steadily since then. We are proud to present the People Bank of China (“PBOC”) regulator's perspective on the progress and challenges of RMB cross border settlement. This session will be useful to all clients with significant China presence and help provide information that will allow planning optimal strategies for business flows from and into China.

  • Mr Wang Zuogang, Director of RMB X-Border Sub Department with Monetary Policy II Department of PBOC HO

Treasury Leadership Series – Risk Management
Market Trends, Hedging Approaches & Treasury Solutions

With 2010 behind us and positive news on the horizon, 2011 promises to be a year of growth and opportunities. We are already seeing regulatory development such as offshore RMB services, and increasing corporate activity in mergers & acquisitions and capital investment. As such, many corporates will have new risks in currency, interest rates, and commodity due to underlying business flows. As treasury professionals, you are responsible for mitigating these risks while managing cash in multiple currencies and executing multi-currency payments.

Our speakers discuss the current market outlook, share views on current treasury best practices including hedging approaches that have stood the test of time, and highlight some of the emerging risk management treasury solutions.
