Citi Appoints Frederick Bailey to Lead Expanded Consultant Relations Team

New York, NY - June 4, 2012 – Citi has expanded its coverage of the investor servicing consultant community for asset managers with the appointment of Frederick Bailey as head of North America consultant relations. Fred joined Citi in 2011 and has over 30 years of experience in the institutional investment industry. Prior to joining Citi, Fred was the Global Head of Plan Sponsor Sales at BNY ConvergEx. The consultant relations team is responsible for coordinating and directing Citi’s relationships with a broad range of consulting firms that asset managers turn to for investment operations and servicing guidance.

Over the past several years, institutional, alternative and wealth managers have had to stay abreast of new regulatory requirements, and deal with increased investor demand for transparency and greater competitive pressures. It has been more important than ever for managers to incorporate the experience and guidance of consulting firms when making certain key business and servicing decisions.

"We recognize the significant role that consultants play in our industry," said Bob Wallace, North America Head of Securities and Fund Services, Citi. "Increasingly, our investor clients are turning to consultancy and advisory firms – in accounting, legal, compliance, research, and the like – as a means to gain a competitive advantage and make informed business decisions. Consultants are influential and valuable resources in helping to shape our clients’ business strategies, and therefore they are essential to us as well."

The North America group that Bailey now oversees is part of a global coverage team that includes consultant relations support for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
