Settlement Finality (DTC Match-to-Settle) Webinar
Citi hosted a client webinar valued clients investing in the U.S. to learn about an imminent infrastructure change which will redefine the U.S. settlement model. The Match-to-Settle initiative, more commonly referred to as "Settlement Finality," is a market-wide initiative to eliminate DKs (reclaims) for delivery versus payment transactions that are settling via Depository Trust Company (DTC). Today, under certain circumstances, the buyer has the ability to revoke or reclaim deliveries even after the securities and cash have been transferred onto DTC's books. This can create problems for the seller, who may have already used proceeds from the sale to fund another activity.
