The Power of Our People

Every day across Pakistan and in over a hundred countries, Citi’s 275,000 employees deliver financial products and services to individuals, organizations, and governments. They also give generously of their own time and money to thousands of nonprofit groups in their local communities.

In Pakistan, employees are encouraged to devote time to community service and celebrate such efforts with families and friends. Citi not only supports volunteerism but rewards it through a unique Volunteer Incentive Program, employees who devote their personal time to community service can get Citi Foundation grants to support the organizations for which they volunteer. To qualify for a grant, employees must complete 50 hours of service with an approved organization during a 12-month period or less. By way of reward, the Citi Foundation will grant PKR 30,000 (US$ 500) to the organizations that benefit from employees’ services.

Global Community Day: the power of our people
 
Citigroup employees joined together in volunteer service to celebrate the first Global Community Day on Saturday, 18 th November 2006. Employees from 100 countries and 300 cities participated in volunteer events across the world.

   
In Pakistan, employees logged more than 700 hours of volunteer time in the first few weeks after the earthquake alone. A committee helped those who wished to volunteer with non-governmental organizations (NGO), and also assisted with logistics and accommodations in Islamabad for those supporting relief efforts in the northern areas. A base camp was set up in Islamabad to coordinate efforts.
