OverviewFrequently Asked Questions

What is Double Indemnity?
Double Indemnity provides for payment of double the face value of insurance cover, i.e. an additional amount equal to the outstanding on your credit card will also be paid to the beneficiary nominated in case of accidental death.

Why do I need this protection?
Some times things go wrong. You may be faced with some unforeseen incident concerning your health or life.

Severe illness or injury may affect your ability to pay the minimum monthly dues on your card. During this period, if you are covered under Credit Shield Plus, subject to certain conditions, the underwriter will pay on your behalf and help keep your card account active when you need it most.

In the unfortunate event of permanent disability, critical illness, or even death, subject to certain conditions, the entire outstanding balance on your Citibank Credit Card is paid by the underwriter.

How about the expenses incurred on my supplementary card?
Credit Shield Plus covers the Basic Card member only. As all transactions on supplementary card are charged to the Basic Card, outstanding balance on both cards is covered.

What is the difference between temporary and permanent disability?
Temporary Total Disability means disability caused by accident or sickness and as a result of which the card member is unable to engage in his own usual occupation for a period exceeding 30 days.

Permanent Total Disability means inability of the card member to engage in any usual occupation for which he is reasonably qualified by education, training, and experience for period exceeding 30 days.

Temporary Disability for 6 consecutive months will be considered as Permanent Disability.
