Almaty, Kazakhstan – JSC Citibank Kazakhstan volunteers in Almaty joined more than 55,000 Citi volunteers in 100 countries for the company’s second annual “Global Community Day.” 32 volunteers in Almaty, including employees and their families and friends, were working on Saturday, November 17 to provide support to children’s home “Kovcheg” in Talgar.

Citi’s Global Community Day is a worldwide effort involving hundreds of projects in hundreds of cities around the world. Recognizing that many Citi employees volunteer year-round in their communities, Global Community Day celebrates Citi’s volunteer spirit on one-day worldwide. Local volunteer teams worked on a variety of projects addressing specific community needs including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, and health care.

“Citi is committed to mobilizing the enthusiasm and talents of our employees so that they can make a positive difference in the communities where we work together. Citi’s Global Community Day is company-wide, with tens of thousands of volunteers in Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. It is a symbol of the many ways we make a difference, through our business practices, our philanthropy and our volunteerism,” said Pamela Flaherty, President and Chief Executive Officer, Citi Foundation and Director, Corporate Citizenship.

“Many Citi employees already volunteer year-round in their communities and we salute them for their dedication”, said Daniel J. Connelly, Chief Executive Officer of JSC “Citibank Kazakhstan”. “This second Global Community Day is an effort to harness Citi’s volunteer spirit into a coordinated, one-day team effort around the globe. Volunteerism is one of Citigroup’s shared responsibilities and I am pleased that our Citibankers in Kazakhstan are helping to make a difference at the Talgar children’s home - Kovcheg”.
