The Citi Shared Service Center in Hungary was voted #1 in the Best Workplace for Women 2008 Competition. This award recognizes the Maternity Program and Flexwork Plan along with other diversity initiatives that the service center is continuing to implement in Hungary despite the challenging environment. The Award Ceremony took place in the Hungarian Parliament building on May 21.
“The award will undoubtedly increase Hungary's Citi Shared Service Center reputation externally and internally and will give us an invaluable support in our endeavour to bring more workplaces to Hungary by enhancing both the functions and the number of our employees, as well as will assist us in recruiting the best talent from the market. By receiving this award we commit ourselves to even more focus on our equal opportunities for women initiatives and diversity programs and in cooperation with our employees we plan to do even more in these areas in the years to come”, said Batara Sianturi, Citi Country Officer for Hungary.
The competition, organized for the second time in Hungary by the Hungarian Women's Career Developing Association, aims at awarding the best company excelling in diversity with special focus on creating an environment and running the business in a way that offers equal opportunities for women and has a program to manage their career in all their life cycles.
19 reputable companies, including well-known multinationals ran for this year's award that was judged based on a multiple scorecard managed by a judging panel. The judgment process included a review of the submission materials, an onsite visit by the chairwoman of the judging panel and a questionnaire that at least 50% of the women employees had to fill in.
The goals of the Maternity Program are multiple, including ensuring long-term staffing, planning and forecasting, protecting the company's investment in Citi knowledge, supporting filling open positions and supporting work-life balance. Employees going on maternity leave automatically become members of the Maternity Program that allows them a continuous contact with the company through emails, newsletters and events during their stay at home and the program facilitates a smooth return to Citi.
The Flexible Work Plan is part of the business strategy that enables employees and managers to perform their work in different ways, places and timing. The Plan modules include Flextime, Compressed Workweek, Remote Work, Job Sharing and Part Time or Reduced Schedule. The Program allows employees to realize their personal objectives without negatively affecting their careers while keeping customers' interest a top priority.
