Citibank Global IT Service Center in Budapest

Citibank International Plc., a member of Citigroup, today announced that it has set up an IT Global Service Center, as a branch in Hungary, to provide Technology Infrastructure support related services for Citigroup entities all around the world.

Sajjad Razvi, Citigroup Country Officer for Citibank Zrt. and Division Executive for Citigroup's Corporate and Investment Banking business in the Central Europe Division said: "Hungary and Central Europe are one of the most important markets and regions for Citigroup in the world today and the decision to bring a Global Service Center servicing Citigroup entities all around the world to Hungary is a clear evidence for our commitment to the country and the region. This Service Center will not only create a number of new jobs for talented Hungarian professionals but will also support further development of the Hungarian IT infrastructure."

Attila Bukovszki, head of Citibank International Plc. Hungary branch, said: "We are very proud to have Hungary, among other five countries including Poland, Spain, Mexico, Singapore, and India, selected by Citigroup as a Global IT Service Center. Hungary is an attractive market for such a Center of Excellence, since we have very good professionals with strong language skills and work ethics, and besides, the flexibility of labor and the advanced infrastructure are also significant contributors to our strengths."

The Global IT Service Center in Hungary currently offers Information Security Administration (ISA), Log Review (ALERT), Threat Assessment (CTAC), IPT based PBX support (IPT) and Control and Compliance (C&C) services in the IT area. Workforce Optimisation Initiative (WOI) is a global program (managed by Dean Christie in New York and Joanna Ray in London) and they are working on the integration of further functions to widen the scope of the services.

In the first phase of the project the integration of the entry-level IT functions (ISA and ALERT) were in the focus.

  • Information Security Administration (ISA) team is the biggest team so far which manages the user ID's of Citigroup employees in more than 50 countries and in more than 300 various systems.

  • Log Review (ALERT) unit monitors the logs of hundreds of servers and systems and alerts the administrator team in case of any unexpected event.

When the ISA and ALERT teams were operational the project continued with those IT functions what require special technical knowledge.

  • Citigroup Threat Assessment Center (CTAC) is monitoring the first line defense systems of the corporation, such as Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems and Antivirus platforms.

  • IPT based PBX support (IPT) will manage all IP Telephony based switchboard in the EMEA region.

  • Control and Compliance (C&C) team is an internal control over the IT functions in the EMEA region. They monitor the various test activities of the IT units across the region and report all exceptions.

The first employees were hired in October 2005; currently there are more than 80 staff members. Due to continuous expansion of the remote IT services, this number could grow to 150-200 by the end of 2007.
