Citibank Rt., a member of Citigroup, is today introducing a unique, innovative insurance service to the Hungarian financial market for its credit card customers. The Citibank Credit Guard Insurance Package, consisting of Price Protection and Purchase Protection services, is free of charge, and comes automatically with eligible Citibank Gold and Silver credit cards.

"Citibank Rt. was the first bank in Hungary to offer real credit cards back in 1999, and since then we have led the field in terms of product innovation, several features of our products being unique in the market today. We were the first to introduce a co-branded credit card, we were the first to offer our customers discounts at our partners' outlets through our Travel Pack service, we were the first to offer a discount-interest repayment facility to our customers through our Equal Payment Plan, and we were the first to enable our customers to make their utility payments using their credit cards. The Credit Guard Insurance service that we've just launched represents yet another success in our product-development strategy, the aim of which is to allow our customers to use their credit cards for an even wider range of purchases and to increase convenience further", said Zdenek Turek, Country Corporate Officer for Citibank Rt.

The essence of the Citibank Price Protection service is that if the customer sees a product that he purchased with his Citibank credit card being sold for a lower price at another store within 14 days of the purchase, the insurer will refund him the price difference in accordance with the contractual conditions.

In the framework of the Citibank Purchase Protection service, the insurer will indemnify the customer, in accordance with the terms of the insurance contract, for any financial loss resulting from theft or damage to goods purchased anywhere in the world that occurs within 30 days of purchase.

The claim process has been designed to be simple and customer friendly, contributing to a positive shopping experience with the Citibank Credit Card. The detailed conditions of Citibank Price and Purchase Protection services are available in Citibank branches and sales centers, and may be requested through CitiPhone Banking telephone customer service.

The insurance therefore provides protection with respect to both the price and the value of products purchased with a Citibank credit card.
