Budapest, Hungary - As part of Citigroup's global commitment
to financial education, Citigroup Hungary today launched the Citigroup
Corporate Finance University Banking Program in partnership with
Corvinus University of Budapest for the 2004-2005 academic year.
The Citigroup Foundation has awarded a grant of $40,000 to support
the program.
The Citigroup Corporate Finance University Banking Program is designed to support the university in its endeavor to continuously increase the level of education standards and to offer students access to the most up-to-date information and trends in the financial markets. This will be achieved partly through the financial support from the Citigroup Foundation and also through the participation of Citigroup volunteers who will give lectures to the university students studying at the corporate finance facility on specific financial and banking subjects. Also, Citigroup volunteers will regularly participate in student forums and informal meetings.
"In addition to the Foundation grant, Citigroup will run a summer intern trainee program to give students experience in areas in which they are studying at university. We believe that through this program we can enhance and add value to the existing curriculum which will give tangible benefits to the students," said Zdenek Turek, Citigroup Country Officer for Citigroup Hungary.
Recently, Citigroup and the Citigroup Foundation announced a 10-year, $200 million global financial education commitment, the formation of a new Office of Financial Education and a global initiative designed to encourage its 275,000 employees around the world to devote time to support financial education and other charitable causes. Under the new initiative, employees may take a day off from work to volunteer for non-profit organizations in their communities.
