Citibank Hungary Continues its Hospital Charity Program by Supporting the Svabhegy State Children's Health Institute with a Donation of HUF 1.9 Million
December 17th, 2003

Citibank Rt. Hungary, a member of Citigroup, today announced the continuation of its Hospital Charity Program with a donation of HUF 1.9 million, which will support children in the Svabhegy State Children's Health Institute in Budapest.

Part of the donation will be used to paint scenes from fairy tale stories on the walls of the allergology wards. Dr. Lajos Kosa, the hospital's general manager, said, "Making the hospital environment warmer and friendlier has a beneficial effect on the children which is important for their recovery. We hope that in the company of these familiar story-book characters, the children will find it easier to recall the warmth of their homes and that this will help them get better."

Also, within this program, the bank is supporting the allergology-immunology and pulmonology wards with HUF 1,000,000 donated through the hospital's own foundation, the Children's Allergology Foundation. The hospital will use the money to buy a state-of-the-art oximeter designed for measuring breathing function in patients, a medical instrument that is essential for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, and which will allow children from all over the country to be examined properly. The bank is inviting its customers to join the initiative and contribute to the purchase of this important piece of medical equipment.

Zdenek Turek, Citigroup Country Officer for Citibank Rt., said, "Citibank supports local communities all over the world in achieving their goals. Besides our local education programs, support of children's health care institutions is important for us. We hope that through this program we can help in the recovery process of the children in the paediatric clinic."
