Citibank Rt., a member of Citigroup, today announced the continuation
of its Hospital Charity Program with a donation of HUF 1.4 million,
which will support children in the Paediatric Clinic II at the Semmelweis
Medical University in Budapest.
Part of the donation will be used to paint scenes from fairy tale stories on the walls of the neurology and nephrology wards. Dr. György Fekete, the hospital's general manager, said, "Making the hospital environment warmer and friendlier has a beneficial effect on the children which is important for their recovery. We hope that in the company of these familiar story-book characters, the children will find it easier to recall the warmth of their homes and that this will help them get better."
Also, within this program, the bank is supporting the premature births ward with HUF 1,000,000 donated through the hospital's own foundation, the For Our Children '91 Foundation. The hospital will use the money to buy a clinical incubator, essential for the care of premature babies. The bank is inviting its customers to join the initiative and contribute to the purchase of this important piece of medical equipment.
Zdenek Turek, Country Corporate Officer for Citibank Rt., said, "Citibank supports local communities all over the world in achieving their goals. Besides our local education programs, support of children's health care institutions is important for us. We hope that through this program we can help in the recovery process of the children in the paediatric clinic."
