Give us your full name, your card number, your mobile phone number, and the IBAN of your bank account with another bank in Greece, and that’s all!
Instructions for Use
Each month, on the day your card statement is issued, you receive an SMS on your mobile phone, informing you of the outstanding balance, the minimum payment, and the date when payment is due.
In order to pay your card, you may send an SMS to 19129*, texting one of the instructions below:
E<SPACE><last 4 digits of your card number>, for Minimum payment.
E.g. E 1234 (1234 represent the last 4 digits of your card number).
O<SPACE><last 4 digits of your card number>, for Full payment of the new outstanding balance. E.g. O 1234 (1234 represent the last 4 digits of your card number).
A<SPACE><100><SPACE><last 4 digits of your card number>, for Other whole amount payment. E.g. for the payment of €100, you send: A 100 1234 (1234 represent the last 4 digits of your card number).
And don’t worry! You don’t need to memorize the above instructions. These are included in the same SMS we send to you with the details of your card statement.
*Cost of SMS to 19129: €0.09 + VAT. In case you need to cancel the payment, you may send an SMS on the same day, texting N<SPACE><last 4 digits of your card number>.
How do I get informed that the service has been set up after my enrollment?
You will receive an SMS on your mobile phone, within 6 – 8 business days, once the arrangement with the other bank has been completed through DIAS.
How do I get informed about when & how much I have to pay?
Each month, on the day your card statement is issued, you receive an SMS, informing you of the new outstanding balance, the minimum payment, and the date when payment is due.
We also remind you of the 3 basic payment instructions with the same SMS, so you don’t need to remember anything at all!
Additionally, 5 days before the due date, you receive a reminder via SMS, so that you don’t miss the due date.
How many days does it take for the payment to be effected from the day my SMS is sent?
4 business days are required for the payment to be effected (except the first one that needs 8), and once it is completed, you receive a relevant message from Pay by SMS service. You will also receive an SMS in case the payment has failed, so that you can arrange for the payment of your card.
Can I make more than one payments?
You can make as many payments as you wish via the messages you send to 19129.
You are allowed to use each instruction only once for each card, on the same day.
Which is the minimum amount I may pay?
There is no minimum amount you may pay via Pay by SMS service.
Can I pay my card from different bank accounts?
Each card is paid from one bank account, however, if you have more than one cards, you may choose to pay each card from a different account with other banks in Greece.
What happens in case there is an error in the last 4 digits of my card number which I have sent, or in case I send the payment instruction (SMS) from a mobile phone other than the one specified upon my enrollment for the service?
In these cases, your payment will not be effected because, each time you send a payment SMS, your details are validated on the basis of the details provided upon enrollment. You will receive a relevant message on the next day.
What happens in case I lose / change my mobile phone?
In the event that an unauthorized person attempts to send a message to Pay by SMS service, then, your account cannot be used by him/her, since it is “linked” with your credit card only.
To continue using the service, you should inform the Bank of any change in your mobile phone, so that your enrollment details can be updated.
Can I cancel a payment instruction sent via SMS?
The payment instruction can be cancelled only on the same day. Send an SMS to 19129, as follows: N<SPACE><last 4 digits of your card number>.
If there are no funds in the account of the other bank, the instruction will not be carried out, and you will receive a relevant SMS (5 business days after payment process is completed).
How can I cancel my enrollment with the service?
By calling CitiPhone at 210 9290 190, or by visiting a Citibank branch.
Can I pay a third party card via this service?
No. This service is designed so that each customer may pay his/her own card.
