How environmentally-friendly activities are turned into investment opportunities.

Athens, February 19, 2008.

Climate change causes a lot of worries nowadays, as its consequences become more and more obvious to the greater public, to politics and to the business sector. At the same time, several businesses are benefited by the new needs that arise and by the development of new environmentally-friendly processes. Citibank has selected the most promising of these businesses world-wide and is offering them to Greek investors with 100% capital guarantee at maturity in the form of the new Citi Climate Change Opportunities Index Notes.

The new Notes will be offered by Citibank branches until 28th February in EUR and USD, they have 3year tenor and a minimum investment sum of 2,000EUR or USD. Citibank International plc is the issuer of the Notes and guarantees the 100% capital protection at maturity.

The Citi Climate Change Opportunities Price Return Index, where the Notes’ return is linked, is designed based on the facts that climate change and the need to take relevant measures create significant growth opportunities for a number of companies. The sectors that could show such growth opportunities are the following:

    • Energy: Companies that develop alternative fuel and energy with the use or production of ethanol and new energy production procedures.
    • Water: Companies with activities linked to water, since it could become a luxury good.
    • Constructions & housing: Companies that follow and support new models for the reduction in house energy consumption.
    • Auto industry: Companies that have invested in technologies, which increase fuel efficiency (advanced diesel or hybrid systems of electiricity/fuel).
