Diversity

Citi champions a working environment which embraces difference and diversity, where individuals are promoted according to merit, and where employees treat one another with respect and dignity.

On the global level we wish to be, and are committed to being, the ideal working environment, in which the most talented professional will be keen to work, where there are ample opportunities for advancement and where employees are encouraged to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Citi’s strategy for diversity focuses on four main areas:
Listening to our employees

Through our annual staff survey (Voice of the Employee), conducted on the local and global levels, we gather our employees’ views of the organization and use them to shape the development of the Bank and to strengthen its corporate culture.

The survey is confidential and touches on such issues as reward and recognition, the work/personal life balance, innovation, relations among colleagues and customer care. The findings of the survey help us to measure the key parameters of the working environment and the key management practices which can lead to good performance and employee commitment. In 2012, 88.29% of employees took part in the Voice of the Employee survey, highlighting as the most important features of the Bank productivity, cooperation, Citi values and promotion by merit.

We value our people and appreciate all those who work for us. We offer them a secure and stimulating working environment which offers opportunities for learning and improvement of personal and vocational skills. A diverse team of employees, representing the diversity of our client base, is a key factor in our success.

Education and training

Educating the workforce is an investment in the future. The seminars we offer our staff are designed to meet general needs, as well as the more specific requirements of each sector. Some are conventional seminars, attended by staff in person, others are conducted by computer.

Employees have the opportunity to attend training schemes to improve their skills in such areas as leadership, management and professional development. These are designed to give them the skills they need to succeed in their roles, to evolve and grow in line with the Bank itself, and to make the most of their leadership potential. In 2012, 98% of Citi employees around the world made use of these opportunities, with an average of 40 hours of training for each employee, while here in Greece a total of 58 different training seminars were held.

Diversity Week
The Diversity Week which Citi organizes worldwide each year is designed to provide more information, promote awareness and strengthen our commitment to respect for diversity.

In 2012 Citi in Greece organized its fifth Diversity Week, coinciding with 260 events over six days in fifty countries worldwide. The central theme this year was to bring together the different perceptions which result in our customers’ regarding our service as efficient and successful, and which shape a pleasant and creative working environment for our staff.
