Through its ‘I care’ programme, Citi is continuing for the fourth year its support for the work of the charities ELPIDA (Association of Friends of Children with Cancer) and ELEPAP. The bank contributes €0.05 to the charities for each purchase made with Citibank MasterCard, with no extra charge to the cardholder. We also give cardholders a chance to make a regular contribution to the charities, in the form of a standing charge on their credit card, paid each month as a donation to ELPIDA and ELEPAP.
Through the ‘I care’ programme, Citi supports the therapeutic swimming courses run by ELEPAP, and the work of ELPIDA in caring for children with cancer, while during the first two years of the programme we supported the construction of the Children’s Cancer Unit, completed by ELPIDA in October 2010.
In 2011 ELEPAP declared Citi a ‘Major Sponsor’.
In 2013 Diners Club will mark the tenth year of its support for UNICEF in the latter’s programme to protect children on the local and international levels.
Since 2003 the Diners Club Unicef card has been providing funds for vaccination against measles for more than 13,000,000 children in developing countries. Support for the vaccination programme comes from a donation of 0.5% of the value of each transaction made with a Diners Club card, with no extra charge to the cardholder.
The long tradition of Diners Club support for the humanitarian work of UNICEF has been reinforced since 2010 through the ‘I contribute’ programme, which seeks to raise public awareness of the work of UNICEF, while making it easier for people to contribute to the international organization. By choosing to set up a standing order of €5 or €10 per month, Diners Club cardholders can support UNICEF’s programme to provide medical and educational help to children in developing countries, improving their access to health and education.
