Useful tips on how to use your credit card wisely and safely
  • Shop as carefully with credit as you do with cash and don't take on monthly credit payments unless you are certain you can meet them.
  • Be informed about the rewards programs of your credit card so that you can get the best out of them.
  • Shop within your credit limit so that you avoid being charged with “over the limit” fees and burden your monthly payment with the relative amount.
  • Benefit from the pioneering service Citibank Alerts that enables you to be informed promptly about your cards transactions (i.e. purchases, balance, payment due date etc.) and that way notified for non authorized usage of your card by a third party.

In order for your transactions to be absolutely secure,
we need your cooperation as well:

  • Sign the card with permanent ink at the space provided (reverse side) upon receipt.
  • The card is strictly personal and it is forbidden its usage by friends and relatives.
  • Do not forget to take your card back after each transaction and make sure that this is your card.
  • File all your card transaction receipts (purchases, withdrawals etc.) in order to compare them with the entries listed in your cards’ monthly statement and reassure that they are correct.
  • At regular time intervals check the place in which you place your card, in order to make sure that it is not lost and to reassure that you will take a timely notice when missing.
  • If you notice that your card is missing please contact immediately CitiPhone at 210.9290100.
  • Please make sure that you use your credit card wisely and within your financial capabilities.

In relation to your Personal Identification Number (PIN):

  • Memorize the PIN and keep it secret by destroying the printed document that was sent to you.
  • Do not write your PIN on your card or any other object that you keep and transfer along with your card.
  • Avoid using for your PIN your birth date, your ID number or numbers such 1111 or 9999.
  • Never disclose your PIN to anyone not even to a relative, bank employee or policeman. Bank or police will never ask for your PIN. (i.e. relatives, bank employees etc.), because as you know, PIN is equivalent to your electronic signature and therefore, should not be disclosed to anybody.
  • Change your PIN number at regular time intervals, in order to maximize the security level of your transactions.
  • If you are suspecting that someone else knows your PIN, phone Citiphone Banking in order to be provided with a new one.
  • Avoid using the ATM when you see suspect individuals around you and NEVER accept help from strangers in using the ATM.
  • Do not disclose your card number, expiration date and security codes like CVV2 to third parties over the telephone or internet unless you know and trust the person / company you are transacting with and provided that you operate through a safe transactions environment. CVV2 is a 3-digit number printed on the backside of the credit card, right after cards’ number and might be requested from you when you are performing transactions through telephone, internet or during mail orders.
