
Citibank Tanzania Ltd. was formally opened on May 8, 1995 as a fully owned subsidiary of Citibank N.A.
It is a full commercial service bank with a well-defined emphasis on providing facilities and services to the public and private sector corporations, airlines, and embassies pension funds and non-governmental organisations.
Citibank has one operating a branch in Dar es Salaam located at 36, Upanga Road. We however have access to a virtual network of over 23 branches around the country.
Our banking services include cash management (which includes collection and payment of cash as well as cheques). Foreign exchange purchases and sales and trade services (guarantees and bonds as well as import & export letters of credit, working capital financing in both US Dollars and Tanzania Shillings.
Since its establishment, Citibank Tanzania has taken a lead in the development of the country's financial market through the introduction of new products. Some of the products include, cash management solutions for payments and collections, electronic banking and training in the form of seminars/workshops for our corporate and financial institution customers. Citibank Tanzania also acted as the Lead Advisor for the Initial Public Offering for the first company to be listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and the first and only bank which issues commercial paper, forward sale and purchase of foreign exchange in the market.
