CITIBANK UGANDA AND THE COMMUNITY
Citi’s Community Outreach in Uganda Citibank Uganda Limited, through the Citi Foundation, has provided funding of USD 450,000.00, being part of the Citi Strengthening Network Program with SEEP in the USA, to the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU) to facilitate strengthening of this Network as well as USD200,000 to promote the Citi Micro entrepreneurship Awards over 3 years.
FINCA and the Uganda Institute of Bankers were each supported with USD50,000.00 to promote micro credit and financial literacy in Uganda. We have also contributed USD 150,000.00 towards educating the next generation though Private Education Network Development using Newspapers to promote a reading culture.
In 2008, we supported the Uganda Youth Business Trust with USD10,000.00, with the objective of providing and promoting entrepreneurial skills and start up funds to the youth. CUL has for the last 3 years participated in Community activities to match the Citi Global Community Day and donated generously of time, money and physical items.
