Excess Lost Baggage Insurance

Claim Filing Procedures

Who to Contact

  • The carrier, to file a claim for the loss of the baggage
  • The police or carrier security to obtain a copy of the report if property was stolen
  • If the value of the baggage exceeds the coverage provided by the carrier, the traveler must immediately contact Citicorp Insurance Services, Inc. (CISI) to report the loss and obtain a claim form. - Inside the U.S., the traveler should call 1-800-613-5975. Outside the U.S., call collect 1-817-348-7166

Documents Required During Filing*

  1. Signed and completed claim form
  2. Copy of the Diners Club charge receipt for the carrier
  3. Copy of the claim report submitted to the carrier
  4. Result of any settlement by the carrier
  5. Evidence that the property has been replaced (if replacement cost is claimed); otherwise, covered claims will be settled at actual cash value at time of loss
  6. Copies of any available receipts for lost property
  7. Copy of the police or carrier security report if property was stolen

*Important Notice - Travelers should a claim with CISI at the same time they file with the carrier. The completed claim form must be received by CISI within 90 calendar days from the accident, damage, or loss to qualify for consideration as a valid claim. If the claim is not submitted during the 90 day time period, it will not be considered for payment. If the additional required supporting documents are temporarily unavailable during the 90-day limit, the traveler has up to six months to supply supporting documents to CISI.
