Citi's cross-border relationships in Africa help provide electricity.Back
Ghana has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, yet only 172 hospitals serve its 25 million people. To address this, the Government of Ghana devised a plan: build new hospitals and bring electricity to over 500 towns across the country. Citi worked with government leaders and export credit agencies to provide long-term financing for these projects. The result is better health care, more jobs and an increased standard of living for the Ghanaian people.Learn more in this blog post
In April 2009, an earthquake struck the town of L'Aquila, Italy, damaging buildings, homes and the lives of thousands of individuals. Shortly after the earthquake, the Italian government contacted Citi client KOMA Modular and asked for help building an elementary school to serve needs of the local schoolchildren. After just six weeks of construction, the school opened its doors to 700 students who were able to return to their studies for the first time since the earthquake.
