  • Carbon credit and microloans help homeowners in Mongolia

    Homeowners installing insulation and efficient heating in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia will save the 1.17 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions covered by the carbon credits bought by Citi Microfinance. Mongolia's XacBank will provide microloans to finance these environmentally sustainable home improvements.

  • Promoting financial inclusion of microentrepreneurs globally

    Since 2006, Citi's partnership with the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) has funded 38 microfinance institutions in 21 countries – helping more than 960,000 borrowers with small loans. In 2012, Citi Indonesia, Citi Microfinance and OPIC provided an $18.5 million term loan to fund Bank Andara's microfinance business, helping promote financial inclusion in Indonesia.

  • Developing asset-building products in Latin America and the Caribbean

    Citi Foundation and the Inter-American Development Bank are investing $6 million to fund research on how to encourage families receiving Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) to build their assets. CCTs are conditional on the funds being used to pay for specific benefits such as schooling. In 2012, the three-year research project selected its first innovation partners across Latin America and the Caribbean - pilots will reach more than 40,000 people in the region.

  • Financing clean energy

    Citi is committed to clean energy. In 2012, we closed a €110 million term loan for Enel Green Power (EGP), an Italian renewables company involved in developing wind farms in Chile and Peru. In the U.S., Citi backs SunPower's Residential Solar Lease program, helping to make solar energy more accessible and affordable to homeowners.

  • Supporting veterans as customers and employees

    Building on our proud tradition of providing career opportunities and best-in-class customer service to military veterans and their families, Citi launched "Citi Salutes" in 2012. This online platform helps veterans realize their professional ambitions. Citi Salutes consolidates all of Citi's programs, products and partnerships that support the veteran community through career opportunities, mentoring, flexible hiring processes, accelerated promotion tracks and financial education and counseling programs.
